Becca Wolff is slated to direct Telluride Theatre’s 2022 Shakespeare in the Park.

Telluride Theatre is pleased to announce a special guest director for 2022 Shakespeare in the Park. Becca Wolff, an accomplished theater maker, will take the helm with this year’s play, ALL’S WELL THAT ENDS WELL.

Becca will spend the summer in Telluride crafting the play with the Telluride Theatre cast and crew.

“I’m so excited to join the brilliant Telluride Theater community as director of this production of ‘All’s Well that Ends Well.’ I was born in Cortez and spent my early years living in cabins built by my parents at a summer camp on a hilltop in Mancos. We moved to town eventually and then to California, but we returned in body and in spirit constantly over the years.

“I have always thought Shakespeare belongs in the West – the hugeness of the landscape gives scope to big ideas. The plays belong outside. They belong where there is majesty and grandeur in which people drink too much beer in the sunshine and act the fool. Because what better way to embrace the basic duality in human nature?”

Becca Wolff is a California-based director of theater and film. Her work has been seen at theaters across the country including ACT San Francisco, The Public, Theatreworks and Long Wharf. Her films have screened at festivals including Comic Con, the Brooklyn International Film Festival and Outfest. She is co-founder and artistic director of SCOTUS Theater and holds an MFA from Yale School of Drama.

“We are so excited to welcome Becca into the Telluride Theatre family. During the winter we conducted a nationwide search in which candidates proposed their vision for one of three chosen Shakespeare plays. After narrowing it down, our hiring committee, Melissa Trn, James Van Hooser, Maire Higgins and myself, conducted interviews. Becca is skilled, accomplished, enthusiastic and truly creative. Her vision for this play is spot on. Beyond that, having roots in the area and a deep love for Telluride sealed the deal,” stated Sasha Cucciniello, Artistic Director,Telluride Theatre. “Once the show is cast, Becca will spend the first week of rehearsals doing an intensive Shakespeare workshop/training with the actors. Telluride Theatre has an incredible Shakespeare team who are hungry to hone their skills and with years of experience Becca will bring a true depth of knowledge to our process.”
