Telluride Museum: Open for Winter Season + Schmid Ranch & More!

The following is a note about winter plans at the Telluride Museum from the Museum family. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday 11am-5pm. For more information on updated visitation policies, please see the “Visit” page on the Museum’s website.

“To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake it is necessary to stand out in the cold.” – Aristotle

Welcome Winter!…Is what we all keep telling ourselves. Though the first week of December has been pretty dry and dusty, there is a promise of snow on the horizon. Could be the storm we’re all hoping for to kick off the 2021-2022 ski year right. Keep doing your Ullr dances folks!

We are OPEN again for our winter season as of today! Hours are 11am-5pm, Tuesday through Saturday each week. Come on up and catch new additions to certain historical displays, as well as our OUTBREAK Exhibit – if you haven’t already walked through it – which will be leaving in the spring. It is truly not to be missed!

With the holidays in full swing and the season of giving abounding, be sure to come by our gift shop for delightful, history-themed presents for the whole family! We will be participating in NOEL NIGHT, as is Telluride tradition, however our honoring of Noel Night deals will last all week long! Come into the Gift Shop anytime this week to see what we have in store, and to play your chance at winning 10%, 15%, 20%, or even 25% percent off of your purchases.

AND
(drumroll please)…

We are announcing TWO chances at winning A BRAND NEW MINX CRUISER BICYCLE! These fun and funky bikes sport a dark steel frame with Leopard Print detailing and seats, perfect for your inner rock star, or the rock star you might know! In order to enter, simply sign up for or renew at a Zinc-level Membership or higher with the Telluride Historical Museum (includes a Free Smithsonian Institution Membership, guest passes to the museum, free gold panning, and more!) during the month of December, and you will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing on December 24th! One entry per person.

Many people have pondered, the bold have even inquired, what about our annual Olde Fashioned Christmas at Schmid Ranch this year? While we won’t be hosting that particular event this year, read on below in our “Happenings” Section for details on a brand-new opportunity at everyone’s favorite Centennial Ranch!

And finally: Do you have interesting stories, artifacts, ski gear, pictures, memorabilia, signage, etc. that would contribute to the fascinating story of Telluride’s winter sports history? If so, we’d love to hear from you! Email molly@telluridemuseum.org.

Wishing all of our members and their loved ones good health and holiday cheer!

Sincerely,

Your Museum Family
