Original Thinkers: Introducing Meredith Lavitt, New OT President!

Telluride-based Original Thinkers (OT) is a thoughtful ideas festival regularly scheduled for September 30 – October 3, 2021, in Telluride – and this year, virtually 10/1 – 10/31.

The weekend generally features 10 programs, each built around a particular idea explored through a compelling mix of speakers, films, performance, and art. The program typically delves into the human condition by focusing on the intersection of ideas and individual stories.

2021 program is here.

More from Original Thinkers here.

The following is a note from OT Founder and Ringleader David Holbrooke.

Original Thinker’s new president, Meredith Lavitt.

Dear Original Thinkers Community –

I have been really fortunate to be able to build out this new company with a terrific team and am thrilled to announce a new member of Original Thinkers. After a wide-ranging and fruitful career spanning two decades at the illustrious Sundance Institute, Meredith Lavitt has joined OT as President and a partner in the company.

During her time at Sundance, Meredith was involved in the development of the Institute’s Documentary Film Program, created the Sundance “Ignite” program, which supported new voices and talent from the next generation of filmmakers and created access to countless young film professionals to the Festival, and helmed the international Sundance Film Forward initiative.

Meredith brings that big-time experience to Original Thinkers, as well as her programming expertise, a knockout network and strategic thinking,

I know this will be a step change to what we are doing at Original Thinkers as Meredith and I work closely together to develop into a multimedia platform for emerging intellectuals. She and I sat down recently to talk about why she wanted to join the company and the potential of what we can do with Original Thinkers so I hope you will check out that conversation.

Thanks so much…

COVID-19 UPDATE

We are paying close attention to the Delta Variant and how that will affect OT as we head towards our fall festival. As we have announced, a vaccination card or proof of a very recent negative COVID test will be required for entry into the Sheridan Opera House, our primary venue. We are also likely going to lower the number of people allowed into the venue, which means we will be selling fewer passes.

Please keep that in mind if you haven’t purchased passes yet.
