Among the many new exciting spaces at the new Ah Haa School for the Arts’ Silver Jack building is The Curiosity Shop, a mixed-media room. This light-filled space, dedicated in honor of artist, instructor and friend Kathy Green, is perhaps the most versatile of all the spaces. Designed to host classes in fabric-dyeing, metal- jewelry-making, encaustics, and a wide array of other mixed-media practices, The Curiosity Shop will be a focal point for a host of diverse and exciting experiences for students and instructors alike.

The Curiosity Shop will boast seven large, custom-built tables, allowing students to spread out their work. The tables, which can be reconfigured easily to create different classroom setups, sit underneath state-of-the-art “snorkel” exhaust hoods that can be pulled down and directed above each workstation, or retracted if not needed.

Additional auxiliary ventilation will sit above a dedicated soldering station, in the form of wall-mounted back slots that will directly pull any fumes from the soldering area. Multiple large, deep sinks, a dedicated washing machine for fabric dyeing, and a brand-new press for printmaking add to the flexibility of this unique space.

The Curiosity Shop will house a large, open-plan storage corner, where materials for myriad mediums and practices will be easily accessible, as well as a built-in television screen where materials lists, demos and other pertinent workshop information can be projected.

Ah Haa can’t wait to welcome students of all ages into the exciting new room. Curious? This is the place for you.

Ah Haa School for the Arts’ 29th Annual Art Auction returns this year, launching virtually, just before Ah Haa moves into its new home at the Silver Jack Building.

Because Ah Haa wants to make this annual tradition available to everyone regardless of where you might be this summer, the Auction will once be offering two weeks of online bidding on a fun and fantastic array of art, experiences, and opportunities. Your active participation will help raise critical funds for Ah Haa to continue nourishing the creative spirit through classes, workshops, programs, and events for all.

Bidding has begun and ends at 12 pm MST on Saturday, August 7. You may preview artwork now at www.handbid.com. Artwork will be put on display at the Silver Jack Building as soon as we move in, and all are invited for in-person viewing during Art Walk, Thursday, August 5 from 5-8 pm.

THE GOAL THIS YEAR IS $200,000 TO SUPPORT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE SO THAT OUR CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS ARE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL.

Your support this year is especially impactful as we move from 18 months of closure and reduced programming to a bright new future of possibilities, including our commitment to provide access and opportunity to young people regardless of financial circumstances.

Participation in the arts provides comfort, hope, inspiration and connection. It can serve as a mirror to reflect and respond to what is challenging, what is confusing, and what is beautiful. With your help, Ah Haa can carry the creative torch that will help our community unite, grow and persevere. The generosity of our patrons is what will make this possible.

A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all those making this event possible: Artists, Donors, Staff, Board, Trustees and Volunteers.

And an EXTRA SPECIAL THANK YOU to our title sponsors, Alpine Bank & Slate Gray Gallery.

WE LOVE YOU!!!
