Original Thinkers Presents MIT Neuroscientist on Sound Waves & Healing!

Telluride-based Original Thinkers is a fresh and thoughtful ideas festival regularly scheduled for early October in Telluride. The weekend generally features 10 programs, each built around a particular idea explored through a compelling mix of speakers, films, performance, and art. The program typically delves into the human condition by focusing on the intersection of ideas and individual stories.

As Original Thinkers founder and ringleader David Holbrooke has said about the event he founded: “There are deep and universal truths in our own lives that we know will resonate with anyone and when we find those stories and showcase them, they provide an indelible experience for an audience.”

Go here to watch Alexandra Rieger, an MIT neuroscientist, who joins David in a conversation about sound waves and healing.

More from Original Thinkers here.

The following is a note from David.

Dear Original Thinkers –

We were fortunate to have not just one, but two brilliant neurologists from MIT at Original Thinkers 2020.

We released Adam Horowitz energized talk about his work on dreams recently and now we are sharing Alexandra Rieger’s dialed-in presentation about music and healing the brain.

Alexandra has been researching how waves from sound interacts with all sorts of afflictions and has actually developed her own musical instrument to help heal and plays it at the end of her talk.

As someone who struggled like hell to understand science – and continues to – I am in awe of Alexandra and her colleagues who are working to build a livable future with their work.

Thanks for watching and take good care…
