26 Nov Telski: 2020 Donation Day Smashes All Previous Records
Telski announces that Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club thanks community. 2020 Donation Day smashes all previous records.
In a year fraught with challenges, the Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club received very positive news today. Over 1,500 skiers bought lift tickets yesterday for Donation Day which annually marks the first day of skiing at Telluride Ski Resort, and all of the net sales go to the Club. This year, the total was an all time record, with the Ski Resort donating $38,425.
“We are so thankful for Telski and the community who came out to support us this year,” said Justin Chandler, Executive Director of TSSC. “Like most non-profits, this has been a difficult year, so the timing couldn’t have been better. We lost our other three fundraisers this year, so Donation Day was our only one.”
Jeff Proteau, Telluride’s VP of Mountain Operations said “we pushed hard to be open for Donation Day with the full support of the Horning family, because we all understood how important it would be to the Club this year, more than any before.”
The Club’s enrollment is up for this season, but that means their expenses are up as well. To accommodate smaller groups, they have hired more coaches, and there are many more kids who need financial assistance than ever before.
“100% of this donation will go to scholarships, equipment, passes for those who need our support,” added Chandler. “This year’s donation allows us to breath a huge sigh of relief.”
