San Miguel County will be holding COVID Community Forums the first Tuesday of each month on Facebook Live through San Miguel County Department of Health and Environment’s page, and KOTO Community Radio.

The first forum will take place on Tuesday, August 11 at 6 p.m. and will focus on the safety of older community members. Panelists will include Public Health Director Grace Franklin, County Medical Officer; Dr. Sharon Grundy of the Telluride Medical Center; and Emergency Manager Henry Mitchell.

The COVID Community Forums were created to encourage dialogue for specific groups of the public and provide useful, relevant information while fielding questions and concerns. The sessions will give Public Health another touchpoint to ensure all individuals are being reached and served.

“We’re excited to have an additional platform to share important public health information with our community,” said Public Health Director Grace Franklin. “Our first forum will address how the older people in our community can and have adapted to this crisis. We are stronger together and when we hold space to better understand how to support each other.”

The next COVID Community Forum, on September 8, will focus on adolescents.
