05 Jul Original Thinkers: Conversation with Peter Sims
Under ordinary circumstances, the event would heading into its fourth year. This year, however, is anything but. Original Thinkers is a fresh and thoughtful ideas festival regularly scheduled for early October in Telluride. The weekend generally features 10 programs, each built around a particular idea explored through a compelling mix of speakers, films, performance, and art. The weekend typically delves into the human condition by focusing on the intersection of ideas and individual stories.
As Original Thinkers founder and ringleader David Holbrooke said last year about the event he founded:
“There are deep and universal truths in our own lives that we know will resonate with anyone and when we find those stories and showcase them, they provide an indelible experience for an audience.”

Dear OT Community,
We continue to sit down with – or Zoom with – folks that are Original Thinkers through and through. Our latest OT Presents conversation is with Peter Sims.
Peter is the founder of a rad group called BLKSHP, an unusual assemblage of artists and creatives from all over the world. We met last summer and found so much common ground and purpose on a number of levels so it was great to talk through this new world we are living in with him.
It’s worth noting that we did record this interview a while back (May 13, 2020), so it doesn’t take into account all the energy and momentum of the Black Lives Matter movement that we both so deeply believe in and support. We also had some issues with video at the beginning so our terrific producer Laura Shaunette made some adjustments. Regardless, it is still a worthwhile dialogue.
Hope you enjoy. We will continue to share these with you so do send any notes or thoughts you might have to us.
Thanks and take good care. Stay engaged and motivated as it is ever important.
