The following is a note from Ronnie Palamar, executive director, Sheridan Arts Foundation.

The video below reminds us of the magic that happens in theaters and why we want the SHOW to go on again. (Meanwhile check out virtual options here.)
Dear friends of the Sheridan Arts Foundation,
Hello from the Sheridan Opera House! We hope you and your family are staying healthy and well during these challenging times.
Our mission before corona and now is to maintain the historic Sheridan Opera House as a central hub of the Telluride community, providing a place to present local and world-class (often the same thing) entertainment and productions. However, we are facing significant challenges since our primary function is to hold events for large public gatherings, which are not permitted or appropriate at the current time.
We do not foresee opening our theater for large gatherings until December 2020 at the earliest, and even that date is very much subject to factors outside of our control. Consequently, this summer our focus will shift to creating a virtual platform for our Young People’s Theater so we can still share this wonderful educational opportunity with the youth of Telluride.
We will kick off our Young People’s Theater summer season with the elementary school production of Disney’s “The Jungle Book,” scheduled for Tuesday, July 7-Thursday, July 9, performed virtually on YouTube Live so it can be enjoyed from the safety of your home. For only a $10 suggested donation per family, you can watch 10 elementary students journey through the jungle playing Mowgli and his friends.
Look out for the FREE performances of the Summer Spectacular plays (“Annie,” “Shrek The Musical” and “The Wizard of Oz”) in late July and early August. Depending on county health guidelines, the Opera House will either have kids perform virtually or welcome a live audience in the theater.
We also hope to open our SHOW Bar and outside patio to the community under any applicable new restrictions to provide the high-end cocktail experience, often accompanied by acoustic entertainment.
The 17th annual Telluride Plein Air has been postponed until the fall, but talented plein air artists are sending one new painting each of Telluride to the Opera House. The paintings will be on sale to benefit the Sheridan Arts Foundation from July 1-5 during the Gallery Preview and sale in the SHOW Bar.
The Opera House will follow all county health regulations when serving drinks on the patio and allow only small groups into the SHOW Bar to view and purchase paintings.
During this unprecedented time when we are unable to generate our usual programming income, every financial contribution helps. The Sheridan Arts Foundation has taken significant steps to reduce monthly fixed expenses for the next six months, but if you are able, please consider supporting the Sheridan Arts Foundation by doing any of the following:
1. Make a tax deductible donation HERE
3. Buy a gift card HERE
4. Buy a plein air painting at the preview and sale starting July 1
5. Support Young People’s Theater performances beginning with “The Jungle Book” on July 7-9
