Telluride Arts: Bear Design Challenge & Bear Hunt (4/19-4/25)!

The snow is melting and bears are coming out of hibernation! In the spirit of being bear aware, Telluride Arts has opened submissions for the Telluride Arts District Bear Design Challenge.

Telluride Arts invites anyone to re-create the signature Telluride Arts logo bear in their own, unique style. The local nonprofit intends to feature the designs and the designers in their digital media. Additionally, when the time comes, Telluride Arts looks forward to printing the crowd-favorites on stickers and other merchandise.

The Telluride Arts bear logo can be accessed and downloaded online at telluridearts.org/art-in-the-time-of-covid. Designs can be submitted through email to molly@telluridearts.org, through the Telluride Arts District Facebook page, or the Telluride Arts Instagram account. Please include your bio or a link to your artwork so Telluride Arts can share that too!

To add to the challenge, Telluride Arts is partnering with Bright Futures, the Wilkinson Public Library, local childcare centers, and other non-profits to create a community-wide bear hunt for kids. The week-long event, inspired by the classic children’s book “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen, takes place April 19 – 25, 2020.

To participate, simply create a bear or hide a stuffed bear in place where kids can find it, such as in a window, on your car, in a doorway, a community bulletin board, etc. Then, families with children can enjoy walking around town and discovering surprise bears.

To prepare for the bear hunt, listen to the story and learn more at jointhebearhunt.com.

Telluride Arts is the local arts council, that serves the region by sustaining, promoting and expanding the arts.
