Mountainfilm 2020 Emerging Filmaker Gabrielė Urbonaitė:
Mountainfilm is proud to announce Gabrielė Urbonaitė as its 2020 Emerging Filmmaker.
Urbonaitė is a New York City-based writer, editor, and director from Vilnius, Lithuania. As the recipient of the Emerging Filmmaker Fellowship, Urbonaitė has access to a yearlong mentorship, festival networking, and development assistance.
In an effort to give promising filmmakers a much-needed leg-up early in their careers, Mountainfilm launched the Emerging Filmmaker Fellowship in 2018. The emerging filmmaker is chosen from a shortlist of annual Commitment Grant applicants in hopes that the extra support from Mountainfilm will give them the reinforcement they need to advance their project:
“This fellowship is our way of supporting the next generation of talent,” said Mountainfilm Festival Director Suzan Beraza. “We were drawn to Urbonaitė’s vision and knack for storytelling. Her film speaks to cultural identity and our changing world. It really resonates with the spirit of Mountainfilm.”

• Palmyra (regular price): Fewer than 500
• Fitzroy: Sold Out!
• Six Packs: Sold Out!
The 2020 festival is shaping up to be full of inspiring films, visionary guests, and memorable events. If you haven’t purchased your pass yet, the only question is: What are you waiting for?
Passes & E-tickets:
New this year! Passes will now include a select number of e-tickets, depending on the pass level you purchase. E-tickets give you the option to reserve a spot in a program of your choice. That means less time waiting in lines and more time seeing the programs you want.
No worries Patron passholders. You will still get priority entry to all events and theaters, which means no waiting in line and no e-tickets required.
Mountainfilm News:
Volunteer:
How does Mountainfilm transform the tiny alpine hamlet of Telluride, Colorado, into a world-class documentary film extravaganza? Volunteers! For each festival, Mountainfilm relies on the true grit and devotion of 250 plus volunteers from around the planet.
Who can volunteer? Anyone 18 years or older and willing to smile endlessly, get his or her hands dirty, problem solve, work hard, and commit to an unforgettable four-day weekend.
In exchange for approximately 20 hours of work, volunteers receive a Palmyra Pass, which includes access to the Moving Mountains Symposium and entry to the Closing Picnic & Awards Ceremony.
Symposium to spotlight Visionaries
Each year, Mountainfilm serves as a gathering place for people from around the globe who come to share their passion, ideas, and stories to inspire action. As is traditional, the festival kicks off with a meeting of the minds at the Moving Mountains Symposium. The 2020 symposium will welcome and illuminate the topic of “Visionaries.”
“Visionaries are people who are thinking about and planning for the future with wisdom and optimism,” said Festival Director Suzan Beraza. “A visionary brings hope and creative solutions for how we can move forward to a more sustainable world.”
Let’s create a better world:
It is only through generous contributions that Mountainfilm can continue to use the power of film, art, and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.
