“We are so excited to have this celebration for our 10th year of burlesque in Telluride,” said Sasha Sullivan, artistic director for Telluride Theatre. “I am so deeply proud of what we built and there are a lot people behind the scenes who this would not exist without,” she explained. “We have all shown up and created something incredible.”
Telluride Theatre’s annual burlesque fundraiser will still take place with Cheap Thrills (beginner burlesque) performances on March 25 and 26, along with The Heist! (advanced burlesque) performances on March 27 and 28.
“This show will feel different from our annual March shows,” Sullivan revealed. “We wanted this to feel more like a dance party sprinkled in with burlesque performances.”
Sullivan explained that she and other burlesque committee members watched nine years of past performances to determine which ones would be featured in the anniversary show. Together, they selected a few of their favorites.
“The list was long,” Sullivan explained, “so we had to narrow it down to who was still here, what we could recreate, and the show as a whole.”
Through the years, Sullivan shared, Telluride Theatre Burlesque has contributed immensely to the personal growth, confidence and artistic expression for so many Telluride women and men.
“Telluride Theatre Burlesque has become a family, an outlet, a true art form where people hone their creative skills and leave their everything on stage each year,” Sullivan said.
Be prepared for a wild night full of Telluride Theatre Burlesque and the House of Shimmy Shake’s A-list performers.
“We are celebrating 10 years of baring it all, being your true self, artistry, sexiness, creativity, fun, ridiculousness, and every single person who has ever graced our burlesque stage or who has sat in our audience,” Sullivan said.
