Cory Wythe, the producer and guitarist better known as Marvel Years, has found a welcome place for himself within the increasingly popular glitch-hop/electro-soul dance music scene.
In just a short period of time, Marvel Years’s progression has become outright impossible to ignore. Much more than your average DJ/producer, he is an incredible guitarist who shreds well beyond his years. His approach is to blend electronic beats with soulful guitar on original tracks. The remix creates a sound that is a unique hybrid of EDM combined with glitch, retro-funk, classic rock, soul, jazz, and hip-hop.
“Classic rock has been a huge influence on me,” Wythe explains. “I love breathing new life into those older songs. I think that’s a good medium for bringing new listeners into my music because they can relate to that stuff. I improvise (on live guitar) over a lot of my stuff.”
Marvel Years is a kid with a dream, the talent, and the drive to make big moves… Those paying attention are witnessing history. His releases, impossible not to love, are primed and ready to help you forget your troubles and drift you into a happier state of mind. Keep your eye on this fresh artist who has those smooth funky grooves on lock.
“Cory Wythe does not have a ceiling when it comes to the art of remixing, as he is known for taking natural and turning them into burning supernovae that no human can fight the urge to let go and dance their asses classics off.” – The Untz.
Relocating to the Denver music scene back in 2014 from Omaha to further his music career, FunkStatik is no stranger to the grind.
He immediately dove into the growing music scene to produce his first release, Living On The Edge in 2016. Since, FunkStatik has continued to stack his successes as more and more opportunities reveal themselves.
Releasing one album each year since his debut, the producer has built up a tealthy catalog through Denver collective Mile High Sound Movement Records. With a proclivity for sultry synths, penetrating vocals and uptempo percussions, FunkStatik has the ability to move every single body in a packed out room.
Digging through his electronic vault of sound, you will hear several influences throughout his body of work. You are likely to discover hints of industrial-esque bass, crunchy rhythms, and upbeat arpeggios – FunkStatik executes multiple genres with precision. On his 2018 album, Light the Way ,the track “Keep It Cool” sees the producer dipping into hip-hop as well and it is a buttery union. A tight focus on production allows him to sonically shift from sound to sound seamlessly.
Snazzy Licks performs at the AfterSHOW in the SHOW Bar immediately following the main stage performance. Snazzy Licks is comprised of members from Durango band Elder Grown.
AfterSHOWs are free and open to the public.
