Telluride’s Sheridan Arts Foundation (SAF), the non-profit organization that owns and operates the historic Sheridan Opera House, proudly presents its 2019 Holiday Concert Series. Shows feature a variety of highly acclaimed artists performing the week after Christmas.
The Sheridan Opera House raises critical funds through its Holiday Patron fundraiser. A generous contribution of $8,500 entitles donors to two exclusive seats to each concert of the series, plus a VIP balcony table to the New Year’s Eve Party. Founded as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 1991, the mission of Telluride’s Sheridan Arts Foundation (SAF) is to preserve the historic theater, the Sheridan Opera House, to provide quality music and entertainment to the Telluride community and offer educational programs to regional and national youth. In support of its mission, the SAF produces a Holiday Concert Series each year during the week of Christmas and New Year’s Eve featuring diverse entertainment and an exciting New Year’s Eve party.
Revenue raised from the series is crucial to keeping the doors of the Opera House open and to providing great programming to the extended Telluride community.
Holiday concert program 2019:
KT TUNSTALL:
The 2019 Holiday Concert Series begins with an acoustic evening with KT Tunstall on Friday, December 27.
Grammy-nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and world-renowned for songs like “Suddenly I See” (featured in “The Devil Wear Prada”) and “Black Horse and a Cherry Tree,” Tunstall hails from Scotland, but has toured the world over.
Over the past few years, Tunstall has appeared with The Pretenders, Barenaked Ladies, and Hall and Oates amongst others. Her latest studio album, 2018’s WAX, received international acclaim. Opening support for her Telluride show comes from Charlie Mars.
Mississippi-born singer/songwriter Charlie Mars is a country-and folk-inflected pop artist blessed with a warm vocal croon and a knack for crafting poignant, earthy songs.
Tickets are $40-$50 reserved seats (with a $5 ticketing fee that applies at all sales outlets). The show begins at 8 p.m. with the SHOW Bar and doors opening at 7 p.m.
Following the main stage performance, the live music continues at the AfterSHOW with SAF Young People’s Theater’s Artist Director Leah Heidenreich and her husband Ryan Heidenreich in the SHOW Bar.

Grammy-nominated Jewel performs two shows the second night of the Holiday Concert Series on Sat., Dec. 28.
Jewel is a singer-songwriter, actress, author, mother, and environmental activist with a focus on water. She went from a girl who grew up in Alaska with no running water, to a homeless teenager in San Diego, to an award-winning, multi-platinum recording artist, who released one of the best-selling debuts of all times.
Through her career, which has spanned over 20 years, Jewel has earned multiple Grammy nominations, an American Music Award, and an MTV Video Music Award, among many others tributes to her abundant talent. To date she has sold well in excess of 30 million albums worldwide.

Following the 8 p.m. performance, the live music continues at the AfterSHOW with Emerita Unplugged in the SHOW Bar starring SAF employee Emma Gross and Rock and Roll Academy lead facilitator Brett Neuman.
MARY WILSON:
On Fri., Dec. 28, the Holiday Concert Series continues for a third night with Motown legend Mary Wilson of The Supremes.
As a Detroit teen, it was a vision of musical stardom that inspired Mary Wilson, along with Diana Ross and Florence Ballard, to found one of the most successful female singing groups in recording history: The Supremes.
Since then, Wilson has written a best-selling autobiography; performed on stage and screen; participated on “Dancing with the Stars”; lectured and toured the world; and she continues to be revered as a singer who set the standard for females in the recording industry.
Tickets are $75-$85 reserved seats (with a $5 ticketing fee that applies at all sales outlets). The show begins at 8 p.m.; SHOW Bar and doors open at 7 p.m.
Following the main stage performance, the live music continues at the AfterSHOW with local stars Claybrook Penn and Tom Nading in the SHOW Bar.
When singer-songwriter Claybrook Penn received a grant from Telluride Arts in 2013 to record an album, she recruited guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Tom Nading to complete the sound. One year later, Claybrook and Tom released “Fossil,” and ever since, their duo set has been a a local favorite and a staple of the Telluride music scene.
EMANCIPATOR:
Emancipator returns to the Opera House stage after a sold-out January 2019 show for the fourth night of the Holiday Concert Series on Mon., Dec. 30. Opening support comes from Koresma.
More commonly known as Emancipator, the sleeping giant of the electronic music known as Douglas Appling has quietly established himself as a mainstay of that genre since the release of his debut album, Soon It Will Be Cold Enough in 2006.
Classically-trained as a violinist from an early age, Appling’s organic approach to electronic music production draws inspiration from a wide range of international cultures and musical genres, culminating in a refreshingly authentic brand of electronic music that has infiltrated the global consciousness.
Tickets are $30 GA standing room on the floor and $40 reserved seats in the balcony (with a $5 ticketing fee that applies at all sales outlets). The show begins at 8 p.m.; the SHOW Bar and doors open at 7 p.m.
Following the main stage performance, the live music continues at the AfterSHOW with DJ Castle in the SHOW Bar.
PIMPS OF JOYTIME ON NYE:
The 2019 Holiday Concert Series ends with a fabulous New Year’s Eve celebration featuring The Pimps of Joytime. Ring in 2020 at the Opera House with a “Night of Neon” theme and The Pimps live in concert on Tues., Dec. 31.
Tickets are $100 GA standing room on the main floor, which includes a balloon drop at midnight, NYE party favors, and a glass of champagne for toasting. Balcony tickets are $250-$500. They include a reserved seat, light fare, and champagne, beer, wine, and well drinks all night. (A $5 ticketing fee that applies at all sales outlets.) Doors and SHOW Bar open at 9 p.m.; The Pimps of Joytime set begins at 10:30 p.m.
Following the main stage performance, the party continues at the AfterSHOW with DJ Sean Mahoney in the SHOW Bar.
