Funding for the new digital art project project is provided by Telluride Arts through a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and is a part of engaging the community in the vision for the Warehouse. Eligibility: Open to all artists. Local artist involvement encouraged.
Deadline: Open until filled, soft deadline January 1, 2019.
Project Timeline: Project must be on view no later than July 4, 2019.

Historic. Intimate. High Caliber. Telluride Arts has ambitious plans for the iconic Telluride Transfer Warehouse, soon to be transformed into a state-of-the-art space for arts and culture in Southwest Colorado.
The building is a National Historic Landmark in the center of Telluride that was deteriorating since its roof caved in in 1979. In 2016 Telluride Arts, a 501(c)3 not for profit local arts council, began the process of acquiring the building, restoring the existing sandstone structure, and making plans for its transformation into a cultural and architectural landmark. The plans for the building can be seen on Telluride Arts’ website.
The site is currently in a stimulating moment of metamorphosis. Before completion of the arts center, Telluride Arts seeks to activate the present liminal state of the empty, roofless, sandstone building with a digital art installation that can be enjoyed both on site and beyond through social and other broadcast media
Telluride Arts is seeking proposals for a digital media art installation that will be staged within or on the interior and/or exterior of the existing sandstone walls. Preferably the work will explore the physical space, structure, and materials of the building, as well as its conceptual history, culture, and essence as a cultural hub. Inspiration may come from a memory palace concept, wherein past, present and future memory is explored through imagery projected onto existing objects.
Potential project formats include projection mapping, video, virtual reality, augmented reality, and/or light installation.
Funding is available for up to $5000, with additional funds in reserve for broadcast and other media to increase the impact, quality and audience for the work. To access additional funds (over $5000) proposals should include a detailed budget and plan for the dissemination of the work beyond the installation itself through the use of social, broadcast, web-based, print or other media. Consideration should be given to the length of the project, mitigating light pollution, electrical needs, weather, etc. Please note, there is a temporary steel structure on the interior of the building that disrupts the space, and nothing may be attached to the historic walls.
