Telluride Gallery of Fine Art: Baerbel

Telluride Gallery of Fine Art: Baerbel

Telluride is known for its mountains and outdoor adventure.

And for supporting  a culture of culture – with one woman at the center of the fine art scene for 31 years.

Her name is Baerbel Hacke, former director of the Telluride Gallery of Fine Art.

Baerbel Hacke

Yes, I said “former,” as a recent announcement from the Gallery explains:

What a wonderful Summer & Fall season! We are so proud of this year’s exhibitions and are profoundly grateful for your continued enthusiasm and support. We are looking forward with much excitement to our 2018/2019 Winter exhibitions, see the sneak preview schedule below.

Our biggest news is from Director, Baerbel Hacke:

”I have enjoyed 31 years of sharing my passion for art with you all. Thank you! I am happy to pass the gallery torch along to my admired young staff, Malarie who has been with me for 5 years; Christin for 3; Natalie and Drew for 1 year. You will be in such good hands! I’m not moving to Germany, so will see you around town.”

The gallery will be closed for an off season break from October 16th – November 15th. We will be checking emails daily at and can be available by appointment.

Telluride Gallery Framing will re-open on November 19th in time for all your holiday framing projects.

With gratitude,
Ashley, Michael, Baerbel (Director Emeritus), Malarie, Christin, Natalie & Drew,
Brittany + Julie Framing staff.

What all that means is second homeowners and guests, especially Telluride Film Fest regulars and gallery patrons, many of whom ritualistically made Baerbel their very first stop for updates about goings-on around town, will have to seek her out elsewhere. But thanks to her diligence in training her staff (and friends), the shows will go on. And thanks to the educated eyes of the Telluride Gallery’s current owners, Ashley Hayward and Michael Goldberg, those shows will continues to be, well, show- stoppers.

First up in December is Tony Berlant, a contemporary American artist known for his mixed-media sculptural collages.
