12 Oct Fashion Friday: Updating Your Fall Beauty Routine
Fashion Friday 2.0 brings back a popular TIO fashion blog, first featuring Kristin Holbrook of Two Skirts, now brought to you by Erin Busbee and sponsored by Kristin and Two Skirts.
What goes around…
This week Erin’s focus is on your beauty routine. Interested in updating your look for the fall?Erin offers tips. But also remember that here in Telluride, Two Skirts carries the innovative cosmetics created by part-time local, Bobbi Brown.
Is there anyone out there that has a ton of time to update their fall makeup routine?
Anyone…? I barely have time to put out the damn pumpkins.
The truth is…MOST of us are incredibly busy juggling a thousand things, and our beauty routine has to be simple.
1) ASK A PRO FOR HELP
I used to book these makeup sessions for clients ALL THE TIME. It’s such a treat… and again…it’s free!
They can recommend colors for your skin and eye color. They can also teach you about trends.
Just loop in the visit with a shopping trip to save time.
2) PICK OUT SOME NEW SHADES
Another simple way to update your beauty routine for fall… invest in a new eyeshadow palette.
My favorite fall colors are greens and burgundies., borrowed from the palette of changing trees.
You can see a tutorial for smokey green eyeshadow here.
HOW I APPLIED THE SHADOW
1) With this palette, I applied the lightest shade all over the lid to the brow bone.
2) Next, I added the medium shade to the crease, all the way to my nose.
3) I then lined my eyes (upper and lower – along the waterline on lower lid), using the darkest shade.
4) I winged out the shadow liner on the top, and blended it into the crease.
5) The last color, the gold shadow, I applied to the corners of my eyes… to open them up.
6) And, I finished off the eyes with some mascara.
3) PICK OUT NEW LIPSTICK COLORS
An even faster and easier way to update your beauty routine for fall…? Pick up some new lipstick!
I know not every one likes or looks good in deeper shades, but if you can do it… why not?
It’s so glamorous and sexy.. And, again so simple!
When I use darker colors on my lips, I prefer matte shades.
MATCHING YOUR EYES TO YOUR LIPS
In the look above, I matched my eyes with my lips. Just like in fashion, a monochromatic beauty look is trendy too.
But, you certainly don’t have to. You can easily do a nude lip with burgundy eyes, or deeper lips with more neutral eyes.
WHAT ARE YOUR BEAUTY FAVORITES?
I hope the above gave you some quick, beauty update ideas for this color-centric season.

More about Two Skirts:
Two Skirts is a high-end women’s boutique with two locations: Telluride, Colorado and San Francisco, California. The store carries apparel, accessories, make-up, shoes, and jewelry.
It is fair to say that the history of Two Skirts began down the road a piece: Kristin followed the man who became her husband, (Kevin), who followed his ski school client, Joanne Brown, from Vail to Telluride.
“Kevin decided Telluride was going to be the next great place, so he moved to town in 1998. I followed in 1999 with a desire to open a business for two reasons: 1) I wanted to have something of my own to keep me in this remote town since I knew my husband would never leave; and 2), the timing seemed right to become an entrepreneur in Telluride,” explained Kristin.
Kristin approached Joanne about partnering in a women’s boutique.
The concept for Two Skirts was born in 2000.
