Locals and visitors alike love Telluride for its mountains and aspens, its hikes and skiing, and all the beauty and vibrancy of the box canyon’s landscape. Telluride’s outside is spectacular – but its inside is magic.

All facets of the community from performances and parties to parades and festivals are part of what makes Telluride special.

And the Ah Haa School for the Arts wants to see just how you fit in the scene.

For its 5th annual Photography Prize exhibition, Ah Haa invites everyone to submit creative, unusual “selfies” that tell their Telluride story. Capture yourself preparing for a performance, DJ-ing on KOTO, dressing up in costume or strutting your stuff in the 4th of July parade.

FACE TO FACE: Self Portraits that Tell a Story dares entrants to turn the camera on themselves to capture those moments and places that make Telluride unique.

Local and visiting photographers (amateur, professional and everyone in between) are asked to shift their focus away from the mountains and aspens and instead submit images that show their favorite spots in the interior of Telluride – from performances in Town Park, to downtime at the Telluride Library, to events at the Sheridan Opera House,

Ah Haa wants to see everyone’s own, personal Telluride.

This year, all entries will be accepted, and cash prizes will be awarded based on the unexpected, unusual, undeniably Telluride nature of self-portraits. Don’t just smile for the camera. Capture your most honest Telluride experience!.

Photographs may be in black-and-white or in color but the photographer must appear in some way in the image.

Photos must be recognizably taken in Telluride (a street sign, local landmark, or some other Telluride-specific element must be noticeable) and should be accompanied by a brief statement.
