My greatest wish this holiday season is to find a home. I seek your support in creating a holiday miracle.

I have been waiting for a home for over 2.5 years. Yeah, that’s right – I have been here at the Second Chance Shelter for 2.5 years watching all the other kitties get homes and wondering when it will be my turn. Well, let’s make it my turn – it would be a great gift not only to me, but also to all my Second Chance staff and volunteers. They are cheering for me to find my home before 2016 comes to an end.

My name is Kodiac. I am ordinary on the outside but extraordinary on the inside. I am independent, so families looking for a cuddly lap cat do tend to look the other way – but I really do deserve this chance. I want to be someone’s cat – even if I don’t show it.

If I have not yet been convincing enough, here are two more reasons why I need to be adopted before 2017.  Reason #1: I am a senior (see last month’s Pet Column on the benefits of adopting a senior pet) and, at 11 years of age, I can’t waste any more time waiting for my new family. Reason #2: This is not my first time being homeless. It is at least my third time. And each time I have become homeless it has not been my fault, but human circumstance. These repeated disappointments have led me to be less enthusiastic than other cats when I greet potential adopters. But I really do want a home and family of my own.

So if you can’t give me a home – please consider helping me to find one. Facebook me, sponsor me, tweet me, help get the word out. I need this holiday miracle.

Peter, at only 1.5 years old, has spent the last year waiting for his new family…Not sure why because he is a cool dude.

Angelica arrived as a kitten in May 2015. She has maintained her upbeat temperament and playfulness while waiting patiently for her forever home.

And Arvin has been waiting just over a year for his new home. He is only three years old, but is very stressed in the shelter which makes it hard for him to connect with adopters – but he would do great once he was in a home of his own.

I hope you will consider helping us less fortunate felines out. Most of all we just want to fulfill our purpose, to love and be loved… As I sit here and think that every day more spent at the shelter is one day less spent with my true family…

Then heaven is on hold until Second Chance Humane Society comes to the rescue.
