09 Dec Telluride Foundation: Telluride Gives Day, 12/15/15
An added bonus from the Telluride Foundation: $15,000 in match money, $1,000 for Best Marketing.
Tuesday, December 15, 2015 (12.15.15), the Telluride Foundation and local nonprofit organizations want to demonstrate the generosity of our local and extended, community. The goal of Telluride Gives is that every full-time, part-time resident, or visitor of the region will log-on here and contribute to their favorite cause.
Donors can find a nonprofit on telluridegives.org and give directly to any cause they feel enhances the magic of the Telluride region. This is an opportunity for everyone who cares about Telluride to give locally and collectively to the community.
New this year, there will be a matching pool of $15,000 that will be donated and distributed to participating nonprofits based on their percentage of all dollars raised.
An anonymous donor has provided $5,000, which will be donated after Telluride Gives collectively raises $75,000. San Juan Kids Endowment has joined the Telluride Gives effort with a generous promise of $10,000 in match money, donated when $100,000 is reached. This match will be shared with every nonprofit on a proportional basis.
This year, the Foundation is also holding a marketing contest with a $1,000 prize. The goal is to incentivize nonprofits to be creative, promote themselves and Telluride Gives with videos, social media campaigns, and/or other exciting ideas. A committee will determine the winner based on creativity, “likes,” and “shares” on social media outlets.
Give the gift of giving.
This year donors can purchase electronic gift cards and send them to a friend or loved one. Gift cards are available in any amount over $25.00. The buyer can print out a gift code to give the recipient or enter an email which is then sent to the recipient. The recipients of the gifts can go on to telluridegives.org between 12.15.15 – 12.31.15 and choose which organization to support. A great stocking stuffer or hostess gift.
KOTO Community Radio is partnering with the Foundation to promote Telluride gives 12.15.15 and will be broadcasting information and updates all-day long.
“In past years Telluride Gives has generated much generosity and love for the Telluride regional nonprofits,” said Paul Major, President & CEO, Telluride Foundation. “We hope to raise over $100,000 this year to support our local nonprofit organizations that enrich our lives every day. On 12.15.15, please go here so we can show our collective appreciation by giving to them directly online.”
The Telluride Foundation has been supporting the good work of local nonprofits and their causes for 15 years and wants to connect community members with our nonprofits’ stories, successes, and challenges.
Each local nonprofit is invited to post their story or an individual project that needs funding.
Donors can go to www.telluridegives.org and select which organizations to fund and in what amount. Donors may give to many or a single cause. One-hundred percent of all donations go to charity (minus a processing fee charged by the credit card companies).
Giving commences at midnight on 12.15.15 and end at 11:59p.m on 12.15.15.
Historically, Telluride Gives raised:
$19,000 from 178 individuals for 29 nonprofits on 11.11.11
$43,000 from 421 individuals for 40 nonprofits on 12.12.12
$56,000 from 726 individuals for 57 nonprofits on 11.12.13
$105,000 from 558 individuals for 59 nonprofits on 12.13.14
Campaign organizers hope that people who have never donated before will give on this day, as well as enable donors to connect with new causes and programs.
“Telluride Gives is about our daily lives – our schools, pets, education, athletics, arts, culture, health, and families – everything that makes our lives and our local community unique. It is also about taking care of one another, providing for families and children in need or in crisis.” said Major.
