ABOUT TELLURIDE MOUNTAINFILM:
Mountainfilm is America’s premier documentary film festival celebrating adventure, activism, culture, environment and indomitable spirit. We accept and screen feature and short films on a broad range of subjects. We are always interested in work that focuses on mountains, mountain culture and mountaineering, but we are also partial to films about people who are dedicated to changing the world. See a complete list of films from the 2015 festival here. Our symposium theme for 2016 is National Parks, so we encourage you to submit films that discuss or address that topic.
AWARDS
:
Mountainfilm honors filmmakers and film subjects alike, awarding cash prizes that are announced at the Closing Picnic, Monday, May 30, 2016. View the 2015 award winners.
SHORT FILMS :
We particularly encourage filmmakers to submit short films and are happy to offer a discounted fee. Films that are 25 minutes or shorter qualify for a reduced fee.
STUDENT FILMS:
The student discount is the same as the short film fee, so if your student film is shorter than 25 minutes, submit through the normal system. For longer student films, please contact entries@mountainfilm.org to obtain information about submitting with the student discount.
SUBMISSION MATERIALS:
SAVE RESOURCES BY SUBMITTING ALL YOUR MATERIALS, INCLUDING THE FILM, ONLINE. All online film entries must be hosted by the filmmaker or a third party. (We recommend Vimeo.) If online entry is not possible, entrants must submit two DVDs (any region, NTSC encouraged). Please do not include any promotional materials with your submission.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Film entries to Telluride Mountainfilm may be of any length, from any country and on any subject. Submitted films should either be in English or include English subtitles. If a film is selected for theater presentation at the festival, it is the responsibility of the filmmaker to provide Mountainfilm with either a DCP file or HDCAM tape exhibition copy by May 1, 2016.
SHIPPING INFORMATION:
If you choose to submit your film by mail, you are responsible for all shipping charges and for any customs clearances and/or associated fees and taxes. Entry materials will not be returned.
PLEASE NOTE: We encourage applicants to use FedEx or UPS because other carriers (including the United States Postal Service) have inconsistent service to the remote mountain town of Telluride.
