October 8 to 15, 2015 Visible planets: Morning: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter Evening: Saturn
October 12th marks the day of 2015’s annual Libra New Moon and begins the year’s most auspicious lunar month to reboot, rebirth and renew existing relationships, as well as initiate new ones. It is also a very good time to take a good, long look at the relationship you have with yourself.
We often forget how important it is to check in with our inner and outer self. The thoughts we have and the way we feel about who we are – or who we think we are – are golden when it comes to self-knowledge and self-awareness. How often do you take notice of internal dialogs? Are the words you hear about others and yourself mostly positive or negative? Do you feel happy or sad? Are you grateful for what you have and don’t have? Or do you spend your time thinking about what is wrong with you, others and the world?
How we feel and what we think about ourselves determines the quality and quantity of the relationships we have with every other person, place and thing on planet Earth, and beyond. By examining our internal dialogs and the emotions generated by our thoughts and ideas, we can identify our patterns – the habits and default positions of our reactions and behaviors – and decide whether or not we want to work on changing, amending, improving or strengthening them.
The human brain is fascinating. And like it or not, we are at the center of our own personal universe. We interact with every other molecule and entity we come in contact with. Everything we encounter has an interactive effect upon us, and we have an interactive effect upon everything we encounter. If a happy person and a sad person come into contact, the sad person leaves a bit happier. The happy person leaves a bit more sad. Thoughts and emotions may be invisible, but they are pure energetic power, packed with the potential to harm, help or heal.
Recent scientific research done by The Chopra Foundation in collaboration with Harvard University, University of California, Duke University, Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Scripps Science Institute is finding that our wellness quotient – the ability to fight sickness and maintain a healthy, disease resistant immune system – is effected more by sensations, images, feelings and thoughts than ever imagined possible. Of course diet – what we put into our bodies – and exercise factor into the equation, but it is the invisible, ethereal realms of our encounters and experiences that stimulate the majority of our biochemical reactions, i.e. the chemistry that creates and ultimately determines the physiology of our wellness.
As we walk upon the beauty of autumn’s poignant path, transformation surrounds us. It is a time of transformation and metamorphosis. Spirits rise in the celebration of death. Warmth surrenders to increasing cold. We feel the urge to hold and grasp what is slowly leaving. Like a lover who must go, parting is sweet sorrow. We are in relationship with everything we encounter. Billions of stars and billions of galaxies reflect who we are and where we came from. May our relationships reflect the best of who we are, who we really are. Starlight…
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) Do you feel crazy, rattled or unsettled? If so, blame it on the stars. Uranus has been transiting your birth-sign for several years, rattling your cage in the creative, liberating process of awakening. This week, it opposes the Libra New Moon in your solar 7th house of partnership, prodding you to break free from codependent or one-sided relationships. Equality and balance are keys to success. And watch your step, Uranus is notorious for accidents.
Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) If you have been giving or doing more than your share in one or more important relationship, now is the perfect time to address it. We teach people how to treat us. If you feel taken advantage of, stuck or unappreciated, take note. The first and most important piece is admitting dissatisfaction. Second is realizing you can do something about it. Third is doing it. Communication is a good place to start. Speak up.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) The number one reason couples break up is poor communication. Whether it’s money, sex, security or emotions, it is often a challenge to express how we feel. But as the zodiac’s prime communicator, you are luckier than most. The Libra New Moon and lunar month favor heartfelt words and acts of peace. And this is the perfect time to reconcile, reconstruct and redefine. Awaken to truth and live free.
Cancer (June 20-July 22) Today you stand on the threshold of a new reality. Domestic security is essential to well-being and with winter on the way, you realize the importance of a good, strong and safe home and homelife. Good news. It’s time to cozy-up, clean-up and fix-up the environment in which you live and breathe. Start with your physical body and radiate outward. You’ll be amazed at what you see. You have so many relationships!
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Libra teaches us that every relationship is a mirror, a looking glass in which we see a reflection of self. We tend to gravitate toward the people and relationships that make us look and feel the best. So be it. Once in a while we get involved with people that are-not-so-good for us and then live in the drama of our co-created chaos. Today it’s all about balance. Simply be the best you can be and let go of fear.
Virgo (Aug. 22-Sep. 22) Prepare yourself for a week and month of relationship focus and activity. As a yin earth sign, Virgo loves being of help and in service to others. But now it’s all about balance and equality. Take an inventory of your commitments and involvements. Are they fair and equitable, each party free to express their individual feelings, needs and ideas? Check for codependent behaviors and prisons. Break free, be free.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 22) If we want things to change, we have to be willing to change. And of course, the only thing you can change is you. That said, the Oct. 12th Libra lunation presents you with the perfect palette for rebirthing yourself and your relationships. So…it’s all about awareness and conscious action. Prior to the New Moon, spend some time in meditation and quiet contemplation. Seed the Universe and then do the work.
Scorpio (Oct. 22-Nov. 21) A powerful pack of planets and asteroids in both Aries and Libra sets the stage for a dynamic week and lunar month. Once again, it’s all about relationships. Who is the most important person in your life? You! If you’re involved in any co-dependent or out-of-balance, one-sided commitments or partnerships, it’s time to address the issues. This New Moon promises radical, conscious change. And why not? It’s up to you.
Sagittarius (Nov. 21-Dec. 20) Venus, the traditional ruler of Libra, is in Virgo and square Saturn in Sagittarius. This translates as a time to reassess values, beliefs and boundaries in relationships. Are you being honest with others, letting them know how you feel? Or are you playing the players game and getting away with as much freedom and as little commitment as you can? Either way, don’t confuse fantasy with reality. Practice self-honesty.
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19) As the Libra Sun and Aries Moon oppose each other in the Oct. 12th New Moon, take note of your goals and aspirations. Are you doing what you like, making progress in life and working in a profession or vocation that feels rewarding? If so, congratulations, if not, take time to identify what you want to be different. The world is full of golden opportunities and expanding possibilities. Seek and you shall find.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18) Ruler Uranus plays a prominent role in the celestial dynamics of the week as it opposes the Sun and Moon. Themes of freedom, revolution and change resonate throughout the cosmos as the Libra lunation focuses upon the people, places and pastimes to which you have committed. Honesty, integrity and authenticity are allies now. Just remember it’s not all about you. Others have needs and feelings too.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20) Once again, it’s all about whom you have chosen to be engaged and involved, your commitments, roles and responsibilities. The big “R” in relationship stands out like a light in the forest, illuminating your path of destiny now. And the Libra New Moon reminds us to keep it all in balance; healthy relationships depend on it. Remember, everyone is a both a teacher and a student. Maintain boundaries, cultivate equanimity.
