24 Sep Telluride Arts: Call for 2016 Exhibit Proposals
Telluride Arts supports local and regional artists by curating rotating exhibits in and around Telluride. Many of the exhibits are planned to open with artist receptions on the First Thursday Art Walks that happen throughout the on-seasons.
Our current spaces include Gallery 81435, the Stronghouse Gallery, and the Wilkinson Public Library, with additional pop-up exhibits around town as space permits. If you have an idea for a great show or work that is ready to hang and looking for a wall, please fill out the form ( highlighted above).
The deadline for 2016 exhibit proposals is November 1, 2015.
Rolling submissions are accepted, but priority is given to first applicants.
OUR SPACES:
Work for the galleries must be new and can’t have been exhibited recently at other venues in or near Telluride. Some exceptions apply, but this is the general rule of thumb. The Library provides a great venue to show work that has already been seen.
Gallery 81435
Gallery 81435 is a vibrant contemporary art space in the heart of town. The large, open, light-filled gallery lends itself to very contemporary work and more high-end exhibits. Exhibits generally run for one month.
Stronghouse Gallery
The beautifully renovated Stronghouse Gallery provides a welcoming exhibit space that lends itself to experimental works, installations, and more traditional exhibits. It is a light-filled, space that provides a reception area for the Telluride Arts Offices and the Stronghouse Studios. Exhibits generally run for one month.
Wilkinson Public Library
The Library exhibits are the most community-driven and receive high traffic throughout the day. There are four exhibit spaces at the Wilkinson Public Library. Shows open during Art Walk months and hang for 3-6 months at a time. Work shown at the Library cannot be priced, but sales can be directed through Telluride Arts.
Pop-up Exhibits
Telluride Arts hosts pop-up exhibits, as space is available.
