19 Sep Sheridan Opera House: 1st Annual Adult Prom
The 1st annual Adult Prom at historic Sheridan Opera House. Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, 8 p.m. Tickets here: $30 each; $50 for couples.
The Sheridan Arts Foundation cordially invites everyone to the first annual Adult Prom. The event is a fundraiser for the foundation, the 501(c)3 non-profit that owns and operates the historic Sheridan Opera House, Telluride’s premier performing arts venue for 102 years and counting.
The evening begins at 8 p.m. with a red carpet entrance. The theme, “Dancing through the Decades,” is an homage to all the awesomely cheesy proms you’ve ever attended over the years. Local Telluride rockers Spacegunner perform prom favorites. (Read more about the group below).
A classic prom photo station guarantees a keepsake prom photo.
Attendees also get a free cup of spiked punch. (No need to bring a flask. The booze is taken care of.)
Retro prom attire is highly encouraged. A prom king and queen will be chosen based on the best-dressed couple of the night and the Opera House will pick up their bar tab, extra motivation to dress to the nines folks.
A silent auction includes fun items: Mountainfilm Festival pass; a flyfishing and Patagonia package; massage; and much more.

About the Sheridan Opera House & Sheridan Arts Foundation:
The Sheridan Opera House was built by J.A. Segerberg in 1913 as a vaudeville theater and cultural center, attracting variety shows, orchestras, and touring theater companies. In the early 1990s, the Sheridan Opera House was in jeopardy of commercial development, but was saved from demolition by the creation of the Sheridan Arts Foundation (founded by Sandra and Keith Carradine) and restoration efforts taken on by The Colorado Historical Society.
Today this 240-seat intimate theater, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, is home to the Sheridan Arts Foundation, which has become a non-profit venue benefiting a number of charitable organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of America. Top performers from Dudley Moore and Carol Burnett to Patrick Stewart and Frederica von Stade have performed at the Sheridan Opera House to benefit the foundation and its educational programs.
Our Mission
The Sheridan Arts Foundation was founded in 1991 as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization to preserve the historic Sheridan Opera House as an arts and cultural resource for the Telluride community, bring quality arts and cultural events to Telluride, and provide local and national youth with access and exposure to the arts through education.
