Telluride Foundation: Community Grant App Available Now

The 2015 Telluride Foundation Community Grant application is now live. You can find it on our webpage, www.telluridefoundation.org, click on “Our Work” and then “Community Grants,” scroll down to “Community Grants Application.”

Also, there will be a live webinar about the 2015 application process on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. MST.

The webinar will include what is new this year and helpful hints for completing the application. You can sign up now for the webinar on the Community Grants application page. If you can’t make the live webinar, you can access the recording of the webinar any time prior to the grant deadline; the link for the recording will be posted after Aug. 25. We strongly urge all applicants to view the webinar, especially if you are a first-time grant applicant.

Upcoming Workshops:

1)  September 10, 10 a.m. to noon, Developing Organization & Program Budgets with Michael Freedman, at the Telluride Library Program Room.

Freedman is a founding partner of Gelman, Rosenberg and Freedman CPAs in Washington D.C. and former director of the firm’s audit department. Throughout his career, he has specialized in auditing and accounting for nonprofit organizations. His expertise includes structuring of nonprofit organizations, internal control evaluation, government compliance auditing, financial management consulting and employee benefit plan auditing. In addition to developing his technical expertise, Freedman has been involved in nonprofit management and remains active in other areas of the nonprofit community. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Greater Washington society of CPAs. Freedman is also a part-time Mountain Village resident and member of the Telluride Adaptive Sports Board.

2)  October 19, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Mobilize Your Board to Raise More Money with Andy Robinson, at the Methodist Church, 19 S. Park Avenue, Montrose.  This event is sponsored by the Western Slope Rural Philanthropy Days and the cost is $65 for this whole-day training. Note that the cost goes up to $85 in late September so – don’t delay, register today here.

In this workshop, we’ll discuss the reasons why and outline strategies to turn things around. You’ll leave with several practical, specific ideas for increasing board involvement and effectiveness.
