See full schedule below.
Now in its 16th year, the free outdoor live music series overlooking the scenic valley continues with one of the longest running Grateful Dead tribute bands in the world, Shakedown Street, which makes its home in and around the Rocky Mountain region of North America. Spawned from jam sessions at the Ancient Mariner bar in Manitou Springs, Colorado in 1987, Shakedown Street quickly grew in popularity, garnering a legion of loyal fans who refer to themselves as “Shakeheads.” In a few short years, throngs of “Shakeheads” could be found on the highways and byways of the Rocky Mountains, making their way to another very Shakey show.
In the live music venues of the Rocky Mountains, there are only a few bands that are able to consistently draw large audiences. Shakedown Street works the magic by embodying the Grateful Dead’s ethos of improvisation and discovery, while maintaining an intimacy and open rapport with its audience. A whole new generation of “Shakeheads” has discovered the positive and collaborative energy found at a Shakedown Street concert. Longtime fans are thrilled to find the band sounding hotter than ever and having the time of their lives!
Shakesdown Street is followed on the Sunset schedule by electronic-laced reggae act Jon Wayne and the Pain, rhythm & soul ensemble Mingo Fishtrap, country-rock band Pure Prairie League, and Colorado’s Grateful Dead tribute Shakedown Street. The eclectic lineup enlists a powerful array of proven acts that provide feel-good dance and sing-a-long music to audiences across the country.
Scheduled to coincide with a scenic sunset as the backdrop for each act’s two sets of music on the lawn near Lift 1 in the Sunset Plaza, all Sunset shows are provided to the public free of charge by TMVOA, and supporting sponsors Wells Fargo Private Bank, Alpine Bank, Madeline Hotel and Residences, Telluride Resort Lodging, Telluride Ski & Golf, The Town of Mountain Village, The Peaks Resort & Spa, and The Market at Mountain Village.
Featured again this year, the Town of Mountain Village’s Entertainment District allows a fluid social atmosphere where alcoholic beverages purchased from associated restaurants can be taken into the Common Consumption Area and enjoyed during the concerts.
