Beyond the Groove is pleased to announce yet another night of incredible music at the Telluride Mountain Village Conference Center’s pop up musical venue Club Red: Tuesday, July 28, the American country-punk rock band Lucero performs at the venue. Plush decor, ambient lighting, VIP seating and bottle service make Club Red unique to the destination.
About Lucero:
Lucero had their start in Memphis, TN and played for the first time in early 1998. Since 2001, the group has done between 150 and 200 shows a year across the United States and Canada and have been described as “one of the hardest working bands of the last 10 years—on tour significantly more days than they are not.”
Lucero is Ben Nichols (guitar and vocals), Roy Berry (drums), John C. Stubblefield (bass), Brian Venable (guitar), and Rick Steff (piano, organ, accordion).
Lucero’s sound has been summed up as a synthesis of soul, rock and country that is distinctly Memphisian. To date, they have released nine albums and one live DVD, mostly on their their own label.
After 16 years, Lucero has built up a fanbase that’s as diverse as it is rabid. Ask 50 Lucero fans what their favorite song is and you’ll get 50 different answers. Among the band’s 100-plus songs across the group’s albums and multiple EPs, there’s no universal fan favorite. “Each person makes Lucero their own thing,” says frontman Nichols. “Everyone identifies with us for completely different reasons. For one reason or another, Lucero becomes a very personal band.”
But the one thing that seems to unify Lucero fans of all kinds is the band’s all-or-nothing live show.
