July 23 to 30, 2015 Visible planets: Morning: none Evening: Venus, Jupiter, Saturn
Last night on the news I saw that NASA has discovered “a planet at the right temperature within the habitable [Goldilocks] zone, and only about one-and-a-half times the diameter of Earth, circling a star very much like our own sun.”
According to news flashes and Internet articles, this one could be the one. The one that has organic life much like our own home planet Earth. What great stuff for the imagination. It’s fun to consider the possibilities of such an idea. And yet, at 1,400 light years from Earth, we won’t be going there anytime soon.
And then, there’s all the hubbub about our recently demoted “dwarf planet” Pluto. Photos taken by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft of our far-distant neighbor on its historic flyby of July 14, 2015 has reignited the collective consciousness when it comes to what we have so long referred to as “outer space.” Just the nine-and-a-half-year, 3.6 billion mile journey is daunting.
So, here we are on Earth. Our beautiful, bountiful home planet. What a miraculous wonder to be living and breathing, walking the human evolutionary journey, one moment and day at a time. Like a ginormous Ferris wheel or carnival merry-go-round, we orbit around our Sun, again and again, year after year.
Our time here on Earth is precious. As an innocent, curious child, 100 years sounded like a long, long time. A century? The year 2000? A new millennium? Hard to fathom such far-off, distant points in the ever-mysterious future. But just like the rising and setting Sun, each day folds into the next one and, once again, we are here.
The news of another earth-like planet came to me the on the first day the Sun moved into Leo, sign of life and living. Ruled by the Sun, Leo rules the heart, the center, the core of our being. It is our life force and spirit, the eternal energy that ignites, creates and animates life. It’s what keeps us alive and strong, happy and awake, loving and giving,
Happy Leo zodiac month. May we roar like the Lion, play like a child, feel love in our heart and enjoy each and every moment of our precious lives.
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr. 19) The Leo zodiac month asks us to be generous of spirit and strong of heart, flamboyant, dramatic and good. For fiery Aries, it’s a call to honesty, integrity and truth. Everything you feel and know in your heart. The center of soul and self, true love and childlike innocence. Focus on gratitude, embrace goodness and experience grace. Taurus (Apr. 19-May 20) Venus and Uranus go retrograde this week, joining Saturn, Neptune and Pluto in apparent backward motion. This translates as a subtle but powerful shift of energy and will when it comes to wanting, attracting and manifesting. Mercury, Mars and Jupiter direct keep you thinking, doing and exploring, but as far as love and relationships, be patient and sweet. You are preparing for major change, so take it slow.
Gemini (May 20-June 20) Thinking and doing, communication, travel and learning are themes as the Sun tracks through your solar 3rd house of education, curiosity and thought. You may discover the child within as you explore old neighborhoods or return home to visit friends and family. Tap into heartfelt emotions and cultivate the courage to express your feelings. Dare to be corny. Follow the yellow brick road. Have fun. It’s summer!
Cancer (June 20-July 22) As the waxing Moon tracks toward full, summer evenings enchant and intrigue engagement. Get out and listen to music in the parks, hold hands with someone you love or discover the joy of water. Sweet Venus enters your solar 3rd house of travel this week and gives you a hint of things to come. But for now, home is where the heart is and it’s good. Leo says, “You’re the boss!” and today, you are. Enjoy the show.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) Congratulations on another revolution around the Sun! Your birthday month is here and it’s time to celebrate life. Once again, focus on gratitude and the amazing miracle of birth. Who and what do you love? How much do you express your appreciation and affection for the ones closest and dearest?
