The Telluride Foundation announces several great workshops and an ED Breakfast coming up in late April & May. RSVP if you haven’t already:
1) Great Strategic Planning for Mission Impact
Part of the “Great Governance” series sponsored by Western Slope Rural Philanthropy Days, this session will be taught by Kelleen Zubick, State Director of Share Our Strength Colorado. Attendees can expect leave equipped with the basics of strategic planning, which will enable them to form their own plans or work proactively with a planning consultant, including:
- The purpose and benefits of strategic planning
- Strategic planning process overview, timeline, and steps in effective planning
- Essential pre-planning strategies and tips and
- Tools for designing an adaptable road map for implementing these plans
The cost of this training will be $30.00 until April 24th. Anyone registering after this date will be charged $35.

2) ED Breakfast: Endowments & Restricted Funds, Wednesday, May 6, 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m., Sheridan Opera House, Telluride
Join Denise Jurgens, CPA for Reese Henry, Elaine Demas, Director of the Telluride Academy, and Paul Major, President & CEO of the Telluride Foundation in a conversation about how to create, fundraise for, and manage endowment and restricted funds. Nonprofit staff and board members are welcome.
3) Strategy Formulation Workshop for Nonprofits (Free), Thursday, May 21, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Madeline Hotel & Residences, Idarado Ballroom, located at 568 Mountain Village Blvd, in Mountain Village
This workshop, hosted by Mountainfilm Festival, the Johnson Family Foundation, Patagonia, and the Telluride Foundation, will be taught by Ron Gager, a Colorado based organizational development consultant, will help your organization achieve sustained success by advancing your ability to formulate a guiding organizational strategy to gain competitive advantage. A flyer is attached. You are encouraged to bring additional staff and board members from your organization. Registrants will be provided with pre-work to prepare for the workshop.
4) Using the Business Model Canvas Workshop for Nonprofits (Free), Tuesday, May 26, 9 a.m.– noon, Placerville School House
This workshop is a great follow-up to early organizational strategic planning/strategy formulation workshops, as it will focus more on refining and improving the projects, programs, and services you provide as an organization. Learn from Telluride Venture Accelerator Director Thea Chase and Georgann Jouflas, Instructor of Business at Colorado Mesa University. This is an approach used by start-up businesses and entrepreneurs to test the feasibility of new ideas and projects or to re-evaluate existing projects that may need to be refreshed. The objective is to make your programs as effective as possible and ensuring that your programs best fit your constituents.
