28 Apr Opera House: “Beauty & The Beast”
Sheridan Arts Foundation’s Young People’s Theater proudly presents “Beauty & The Beast.” Production is adapted and directed by Jennifer Julia, performed by students in grades 3 – 5 at the historic Sheridan Opera House, May 1-2, 6 p.m.; May 3, 2 p.m. Adults $13; children 12 & under $11 and lap children free.
“Beauty & The Beast” tells classic tale of Belle, a book-loving beauty who doesn’t quite fit in the local villagers. When she finds herself a prisoner of an enchanted castle, where clocks, candlesticks and featherdusters walk, talk and sing, Belle meets the terrifying Beast, who is really a Prince under a sorceress’s spell. Over time, Belle and Beast learn valuable lessons about compromise, celebrating differences, and the power of friendship.
Featuring enduring Disney songs such as “Be Our Guest,” “Gaston” and “Beauty of the Beast,” this is a show that everyone can truly enjoy.
“The costumes and set for this show are fabulous,” said artistic director Jen Julia, “It’s going to look like a fairy tale pop-up book just opened up on stage. The whole production is really special.”
After every show, audience members will be invited onstage to meet the cast members and enjoy sweet treats. Anyone in costume will receive a free goodie at the door. We encourage all young princes, princesses, and talking tea pots to dress up for the show.
“Beauty & The Beast” will play at 6 p.m. on May 1 and 2 and close out with a 2 p.m. matinee on May 3.
