04 Mar Telluride Arts: New Screen Printing Lab Announced
There is an exciting new resource for regional artists at the Stronghouse Studios. A screen-printing lab, open to the public, has just come online thanks to the equipment and expertise of long time local Max Harrison.
The lab is set up for large-format printing and has everything artists need to start printing including a four-arm, four- color printer. Artists of all levels are invited to stop by and check out the space and sign up for an intro session. No experience is necessary. Prices detailed here (and members of the Telluride Arts District get a great deal):
Intro Session (mandatory for everyone): Learn how the workspace is set up, rules, and general practices. Intro session comes with one pre-emulsified screen and a fellow artist walks you through the burning, printing, and cleaning process.
Cost: $100/$85 (members)
Studio Hour (with guidance): Free use of all equipment and ink with help.
Cost: $45/hour $40/hour (members)
Studio Hour (solo): Free use of all equipment and ink all on your own. Must be able to demonstrate understanding of materials and comfort using studio.
Cost: $25/hour $20/hour (members)

The Stronghouse provides studio space to professional working artists in one of the oldest buildings in town. In addition to visual artist studios, there is a black-and-white darkroom, screen-printing lab, and a music rehearsal and recording studio. Regular open hours are from 12-6 p.m. daily.
