22 Feb SNOW! It’s Back!
The “drought.” We’ve all been talking about it. Telluride enjoyed a great early snowfall. The mountain opened with good coverage, then got more snow so the Christmas rush was beautifully served. And then…
Long-time locals weren’t surprised to have dry conditions in January- we expect it. But then February, and almost nothing for three weeks. We burned skis… Though I didn’t witness it, I understand virgins were sacrificed… I even washed my car. Jesse James McTigue and Emily Shoff wrote about the drought on Telluride Inside… and Out. Nothing worked until yesterday when Jerry Roberts posted his optimistic forecast, also on TIO.
And this morning, it all changed: Snow! And according to Jerry’s new forecast we just published, it ain’t over yet. I expect champagne corks are popping all over town this evening.
Happiness in Telluride is the snow that ends the drought.
