Golden-New-Year-Goat-2015chinese New year dragonVenus and Mars are all right tonight…

Here we are, entering the Pisces zodiac month, embarking upon Chinese Lunar New Year 4713 of the Goat (which in Western astrological circles symbolizes the sign of Capricorn) as well as moving through the first phase and week of the late, late degree Aquarius New Moon and lunar cycle. On Earth, this translates as a powerful end and new beginning. We have entered the radical era nueva of information maximus, a veritable new era of enlightenment and illumination, where we cannot escape the stimulus overload. Nor can we escape the fact that we are undeniably, irrevocably interconnected to everyone and everything happening here on planet Earth, and beyond. What I do affects not only my neighbors, family and friends, it also affects Estella Maria Flores in Guanajuato, Mexico and Tibetan Telo Tulku Rinpoche in Moscow, Russia, as well as all plants, animals, minerals and micro-organisms on the planet.

chogyamIn this case, enlightenment is not nirvana, with its customary state of bliss, grace and mystical experience. It is the enlightenment of knowledge, facts and education that comes via exposure, information, interconnectedness, cultural diversity, awareness and life experience. It’s the inevitable anti-ignorance ethos of the Aquarian Age, i.e. the technological Information Age: computers, the Internet, virtual reality, satellite TV, cell phones, CGI and handheld devices. We are exposed, constantly, continually, to “what’s going on” here, there, and ultimately, everywhere. Energetically, it’s a combination of birthing and sustaining, initiating and activating, while remaining realistic, practical, patient and – if we can swing it – compassionate. This is the Aquarian-Pisces cusp of the ages at its best. And here we are…on Earth, living it and breathing it.

Low above the western horizon in the early evening twilight of February 19th, the faint reddish tint of planet Mars – the Roman God of War – pales next to the brilliant, dazzling platinum light of Venus – antiquity’s Goddess of Love and Beauty – as they dance together above the silver sliver of a budding crescent Moon. Following sunset on February 20th, this planetary trio moves ever closer in a celestial ménage a trois, a rather stunning and unusual sight for the avid stargazer and casual observer alike. It’s an opportunity to tap into the powerful cosmic “one” energy of the week and month, a synchronistic synthesis of the ancient and modern masculine and feminine, male and female, yin and yang. Check it out. Blessings and peace…
