Telluride Film Fest: Sunday at the Palm, “The Painting”

The Telluride Film Festival is thrilled to present the free community Sunday at the Palm series in collaboration with the Telluride R-1 School District. This month’s special family screening of Jean-Francois Laguionie’s THE PAINTING is “a feast for the eyes and the imaginations” for all kids and kids-at-heart.

The U.S. distributor for this French-Japanese animated masterpiece, GKids, works generously with the Telluride Film Festival to bring fantastic children’s films to the region throughout the year. This film is the beautiful tale of the society that lives within an unfinished painting. As a result, the characters have been left in different stages of creation – there are “the impeccably colored Alldunns, the incomplete Halfies, and the barely outlined Sketchies who are treated as outcasts.” – Gkids

“The Painting” is also love story and adventure, as protagonists, Ramo, Lola, Quill and Magenta jump from painting to painting in a journey to uncover the mission of the mysterious Painter.

“Enchanting! This consistently enjoyable, inventive and beautifully crafted tale is a color riot suitable for all ages! A constant feast for the eyes,” wrote Variety, while The New York Times calls the film “Gorgeous! A True Objet d’Art.”

Sunday, December 7, 4:00 p.m. Michael D. Palm Theatre for the Performing Arts. Appropriate for all ages FREE TO ALL ● Running time 78 minutes
