16 Nov Winter Arrives in Telluride
The ski report this morning from Telski talked about 20″ of snow in the last 48 hours. I know I shoveled that much out of my driveway. That’s one way to get into shape to slide on the stuff! The first part of the storm brought wet snow, perfect for building a base. This morning, on the other hand, was chilly- +11 Fahrenheit when I took Gina the Dog for a morning snowshoe hike. Now we’re talking powder.
The mountain opens officially on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, and with the cool weather we’ve been enjoying the past few days, this latest snow should be around to greet the new season. Time to get my skis out of storage, scrape the off-season protective wax, and be ready to ski whatever runs are open. Happy 2014-15 Winter!
