20 Sep Pastor Pat Bailey, Insights: Baptisms Updated
Last Sunday we celebrated a baptism, an ancient ritual in the Christian tradition. In the past, the ritual was often used to “divide out” the insiders and outsiders, those going to heaven and those not. At Christ Church it is now a very inclusive affirmation of God’s love for all and the desire that everyone realize their wholeness. The sermon also affirmed that we are all on the journey of life that includes the whole cosmos and that the journey is both physical and spiritual. Our individual journeys, though, with their engagement with spiritual teaching and community, is so vital to the life of the whole.
