07 Sep August Blues Train Points to Final Telluride Summer Festival
Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, the last major event in the Telluride Summer schedule is coming this weekend, September 11-14, 2014. This year’s festival was presaged by two summer weekends of Blues Trains on the Durango & Silverton line. I wasn’t able to enjoy the June runs, but I was one of the throng on the train on Saturday evening, August 23. I went on the first Blues Train in 2011, but hadn’t been able to participate since, until this year. And found out what I’d been missing. I spent most of my time listening to Kirk James’ guitar and vocal work, but did get around the train to hear several other musicians.
My advice: Get to Telluride for the festival this weekend, and watch for notice of next summer’s Blues Trains. If you’re a blues fan, I can promise you won’t be disappointed.
