16 Jul Telluride Americana Music Fest & Songwriter Showcase
The Telluride Americana Music Fest & Songwriter Showcase has announced its lineup for the July event and the availability of 3-Day VIP passes for the event.
The songwriter festival features three nights of music in the Sheridan Opera House, plus a private VIP event. That is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16- Saturday, July19.
The 2014 festival will kick with a private VIP event featuring the New York songwriter Greg Trooper.
Trooper is a seasoned songwriter who has released 12 records since 1986. His music has been described as a mix of Memphis soul, Nashville twang, and Greenwich Village folk.
Thursday night at the Opera House will feature Nashville writer Holly Williams along with Carrie Elkin & Danny Schmidt.
Holly Williams is the granddaughter and daughter of two prominent songwriters – Hank, Sr. and Hank, Jr. – who has become a hugely respected writer in her own right. The Nashville resident’s last record, The Highway, garnered numerous awards with its simple acoustic sounds and sense of place.
Carrie Elkin & Danny Schmidt tour nationally and internationally. They graced the Americana stage in 2012 and return behind a new album, Carrie and Danny Together, scheduled to be released this spring.
Friday night, Texas faves Bruce Robison & Kelly Willis will take the historic stage, along with Virginia artist Scott Miller.
Robison and Willis have been married since 1996 and are individually among the leading lights of the Austin scene. But the strong 2012 release, Cheater’s Game, is their first full-length collaboration and recalls the work of the great country male-female duos.
Miller has had a varied and distinguished career, including fronting one of the classic Americana bands, The V-Roys. His most recent record is 2012’s Big Big World.
Closing the event on Saturday night will be the unmatched gospel/blues artist Eric Bibb along with a dynamic duo, The Birds of Chicago.
The multi-award winning blues picker Eric Bibb is no stranger to Telluride. His compelling music is informed by blues, folk, soul and world music and his live performances are both powerful and intimate.
The Birds of Chicago is made up of J.T. Nero and Allison Russell. These are also powerful performers whose shows pulse with harmonious energy.
Three-day passes with reserved seating are $135 and are now on sale at www.sheridanoperahouse.com.
