13 Mar Telski: The Future of Our Slopes
Sustainable Slopes Day this Saturday, March 15
The future of the ski slopes lies in the hands of our future skiers. Knowing this, Telluride Ski Resort’s Eco Adventures and the U.S. Forest Service are teaming up to host “Sustainable Slopes Day” on Saturday, March 15.
This ski-along activity is great, educational fun for the whole family. Each participant will receive a Sustainable Slopes Passport and will tour the mountain to six different stations for short presentations on current environmental topics. Stations will have info on Forest Health, Local Wildlife, Leave No Trace, Snow Safety and more. Participants who have their passports stamped by all stations will be entered into a raffle with prizes from Eco Adventures and the U.S .Forest Service.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the base of Village Express (Lift 4) and is free to all participants. Passports and maps will be handed out there with the programs beginning at 11 a.m. All passports need to be turned in just after 3 p.m. with the raffle beginning at 4 p.m.
“This is an event that will be fun for the whole family and educational at the same time,” said Katie Geissler, Eco Adventures and Environmental Programs Director. “The kids are the future of the sustainability of our slopes and this is a great way to make an impact on them.”
At the end of the day, all fully stamped passports go into a raffle drawing for prizes that include a Private Snowshoe Tour, Half Day Fat Tire Bike Rental, Zeal Optics sunglasses, Ibex wear, and more.
