06 Mar Telluride Academy: First Tracks, Maybe in Powder!
Telluride Academy hosting first tracks adventure on Monday, March 10
If you have always wanted to participate in a Telluride Ski & Golf (Telski) “First Tracks” event, but were not sure how, now is your chance. Telluride Academy is hosting this exclusive opportunity as a fundraiser to help support its tuition assistance fund. The date is Monday, March 10.
“It’s a busy week here in Telluride with many of our summer Academy Families visiting Telluride for their Spring Break, so we thought it would be fun to offer this unique experience to them and to all visitors and locals alike” said the Academy’s executive director, Elaine Demas.
The day begins at 7:30 a.m. at Telski’s Club Clubhouse, located in Heritage Plaza at the base of Village Express, Lift 4, in Mountain Village. Guests meet inside the Clubhouse for coffee, hot chocolate, and an orientation. At 8a.m., the group will ride Village Express (Lift 4) to access Polar Express (Lift 5) for an hour of untracked skiing. If it’s a powder day, First Tracks guests will be the first to ski the runs. If it’s a sunny spring day, guests will be skiing beautifully groomed runs before the mountain opens to the public. In addition to skiing the Polar Express area from 8-9, First Tracks guests will be the first to ride up Gold Hill Express (Lift 14) at least 30 minutes prior to any other skiers, which means you will enjoy several untracked runs on Gold Hill and possibly in Revelation Bowl, all by yourself.
After a few hours of skiing, First Tracks guests are invited to attend a private brunch held “on-top-of-the-world” at the famous Tempter House which offers jaw-dropping views deep into Bear Creek preserve and beyond. It’s a very special way to kick off your Spring Break and everyone is invited to attend.
The event is $250 per person ($125 is a charitable donation to Telluride Academy). The price does not include lift tickets and because the lift ticket window is not open this early in the morning, all guests should plan accordingly and arrive with their lift passes.
Telluride Academy is a 34-year-old award-winning nonprofit youth organization offering unique after-school and summer enrichment programs for children ages 5-18. Academy programs focus on experiential education, leadership development, physical fitness, outdoor recreation, science and the arts. Proceeds from this First Tracks Ski Adventure directly support the Academy’s tuition assistance fund, which helps hundreds of local children attend Telluride Academy after-school and summer programs annually.
