09 Jan San Juan Mountains Weather: 1/9 Update
Our next storm is on it’s way south pushing into NW Colorado from Idaho this morning. Winds and light snow will arrive this afternoon with this quick moving disturbance. Unfortunately for the SW mountains this storm will favor the northern and central Colorado mountains with good snow… We San Juan dwellers will only see a few inches in the lower valley’s and 4-6 inches above TL that could reach as far south as Purgatory. By late tonight the front will have passed east with a break in the activity and will pick up again Friday in the mountains to our north. On Saturday evening/Sunday a second low pressure trough will pass over the area bringing more wind driven orographic snow but favoring terrain north of Hwy. 50. Monday a ridge of high pressure will strengthen over the west with dry NW flow through mid week.
