Don’t miss these upcoming exhibition opportunities at Telluride’s Ah Haa School for the Arts. Whether an open exhibition, juried show, or private space rental, there are a variety of options for every artist.
Affordable Art for the Holidays, December 2013
Ah Haa has brought back its affordable holiday art exhibition, featuring original fine art that has a value of no more than $600 – small paintings, ceramic sculptures, photographs, block prints, jewelry, and more. The show runs Dec. 2-27, with a reception on Dec. 13 in conjunction with Telluride Arts’ Holiday Prelude, 5-8 p.m. Regional artists may submit up to ten pieces for pre-approval by November 22.
New Work by Regional Artists, February 2014
A juried show of “new work” by regional artists in all media: painting, ceramics, sculpture, photography, printing, fiber, metals, and other. The entry fee is $25 for up to three pieces. Deadline for entries is Friday, Jan. 24, 2014; show runs Feb. 6-28, 2014. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place winners, plus a People’s Choice award.
Youth Art Award
This April-May, Ah Haa will sponsor a new Youth Art Month, which will culminate in a Kids Art Walk reception and an announcement of the 2014 Youth Art Award. The program is open to all regional students and will run in conjunction with the Telluride Public School’s annual student art show at the Palm Theater. Stay tuned for more details about this exciting, new opportunity for the Telluride region’s budding artists.
Propose a Show
The Ah Haa School has two beautiful gallery spaces for local and regional artists to exhibit a variety of media, from paintings and photographs to sculpture, ceramics and fiber arts. Ah Haa curates exhibitions that generally rotate monthly, but also welcomes proposals for solo and group shows at both galleries. Most of our exhibition openings correspond with Telluride’s First Thursday Art Walks, which happen throughout the year.
The 1,000-square-foot Daniel Tucker Gallery is beautifully lit and boasts high ceilings – perfect for exhibiting both two- and three-dimensional art, whether in a solo or group exhibition. The Gallery is a multipurpose space and gets lots of traffic daily from locals and visitors. It is used for classes, weddings, lectures, theater rehearsals and special events, while showcasing a variety of rotating exhibitions.
The East Room Gallery is a smaller, more intimate space that is 500 square feet. It is perfect for a solo exhibition, but can also work for a modest sized group show. The East Room is a multipurpose room as well, and gets daily traffic from visitors and students.
If you have an idea for a great show or installation that is ready to hang, feel free to fill out Ah Haa’s Exhibition Proposal Form, available online at www.ahhaa.org or call the Ah Haa at 728-3886. Exhibitions primarily showcase regional artists, but national artists are sometimes featured. Our exhibition committee reviews proposals in the fall for the upcoming year.
