15 Nov Telluride Gives Raises $56,000+
November 12, 2013, the Telluride Foundation and regional nonprofit organizations united for a 24-hour online giving campaign, Telluride Gives, to benefit local charities. Donors were able to search for and chose a nonprofit to which to give, making an unexpected, gift to local organizations. The online giving campaign, which engaged 726 donors, exceeded expectations, by raising over $56,000.
“The Foundation thanks everyone near and far who donated to Telluride Gives,” said Katie Singer, Development Manager of the Telluride Foundation. “KOTO Radio’s all day coverage on 11.12.13 kept local listeners in-tune and the use of social media – email, Facebook and Tweeter, increased Telluride Gives fun and reach all day. In fact, 48% of donations came from outside Telluride’s zip code 81435 and 76% of donations were from people within the state of Colorado.”
Also, enhancing the success of Telluride Gives was Telluride Rentals, which provided prize money for top fundraising organizations.
“The Telluride Rentals Team is excited to announce that we raised $2,200 for the 2013 Telluride Gives Campaign,” said Natalie Binder. “We’re so thankful to give back to these wonderful nonprofits and support the Telluride Foundation.” The prize money will be shared among four winning organizations: Second Chance Animal Humane Society won first prize (receiving an additional $750) for the most money raised with $7,850; the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program won second place with $7,465 (winning an additional $350); Mountain Studies Institute won first place for the most donors with 67 donors (winning $750); San Miguel Resource Center won second place with 59 donors (winning $350).
The Telluride Foundation partnered with the online fundraising company, Kimbia, to develop Telluride Gives, enabling the nonprofits to post their story, raise awareness, and receive donations to support their missions. This is the third year the Foundation has funded and hosted Telluride Gives, and the annual effort exceeded the previous year the amount raised in 2012 by $14,000.
Telluride Rentals will hold a luncheon for the four winning organizations at Telluride Rentals on Wednesday, November 20, at noon. Checks will be presented at this time.
Again, Telluride Gives was presented by the Telluride Foundation, a community foundation and the largest funder of nonprofit organizations on the Western Slope of Colorado.
