11 Nov Palm Theater Presents Frogz!
The live, national touring group, Imago Theatre, takes the stage with FROGZ! at the Palm on Sunday, November 17 at 3pm. FROGZ!, acclaimed for its special brand of acrobatics, comedy, and illusions, combines mime, dance, original music and special effects for an imaginative show sure to please all ages.
A menagerie like no other—frogs, lizards, windbags, cowboys, sloths and penguins fill the stage with wit, wonder and mesmerizing Felliniesque mayhem. Enormous frogs do far more than hop as they engage in amphibious calisthenics; penguins play a funny, but not so sporting, game of musical chairs: wrestling and writhing alligators and Gila monsters slither and slime in a reptilian dance; an animated paper bag pulses with life, and surprises; and, contracting like accordions, three human-size Slinky-like creatures curl across the stage, dangling precariously close to the edge and the audience beyond. The ingenious masks, mesmerizing movement, outlandish costumes, and original music score create a carnival of the absurd, and result in a playful, inventive, and delightful live performance.
Founded in 1979 by Carol Triffle and Jerry Mouawad, Imago Theatre’s original productions have toured internationally for over three decades. FROGZ has appeared twice on Broadway (2002 and 2010) at the acclaimed New Victory Theatre. The universal nature of Imago’s world has won audience and critical acclaim in tours in Asia, Europe, Canada and throughout the U.S where they were awarded the New York Dance Film Award and “Best Touring Production” by Independent Reviewers of New England.
Imago’s wordless, sophisticated and entertaining productions are praised by many. The New York Times says Frogz “opens the eyes to the possibilities of exploration in the vast realm of the imagination,” and describes it as a “mastery of mime, dance and acrobatics!”
Reserved seating tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for students and children. Visit Telluride Palm Theater or call 970.369.5669 for more information and look forward to a wild, fun show.
