14 Oct Trevor Hall: Sometime Telluride Local Gives TED Talk
His proud mother, Judy Hall, is a longtime Telluride local, which meant son Trevor spent a lot of time in town. So, when we received an email about Trevor’s relatively recent TEDxPacific Palisades TEDxTalk, we thought locals (and friends) might want to know. Oh, and, the next TEDxTelluride Live event takes place, per producer Katrine Formby, Wednesday, March 19 and Thursday, March 20.
The TEDx website provides the following description of Trevor.
Trevor Hall, now President of the Creative Visions Foundation, is an experienced educator, writer, and business consultant. His expertise is founded on a Masters of Education from Harvard University, with a dual concentration in Learning and Teaching & Administration and Policy. After receiving his degree, Trevor was awarded a three-year fellowship to serve as the Head Teaching fellow for Dr. Robert Coles, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author and professor. He was a recipient of the Derek Bok Award for Excellence in Teaching in each of his three years at Harvard. In 2010, he edited a collection of Dr. Coles’ lectures into the book titled, “Handing One Another Along,” published by Random House.
Trevor was also the Founding Director of Open Roads Academy, a month-long summer program for low-income high school students that combines outdoor travel with an immersion in the documentary arts. Open Roads helps at-potential youth from low-income communities develop their ability to listen to the stories of others, and learn to become authors of their own life stories. Since its inception in 2001, more than 95% of the participants have graduated high school and gone on to college— compared to a rate of roughly 50% among their socio-economic peers.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.*
