September 5 to 12, 2013 Visible Planets: Morning: Mars, Jupiter Evening: Venus, Saturn
This week we experience the initiation of a far-reaching lunar month, one that carries the potential for amending our lives in the most beneficial and rewarding ways – if we are willing to do the work. Virgo is the 6th sign of the Tropical Zodiac, the second earth sign and the second mutable sign. It serves as a metaphysical bridge between primal Taurus and successful Capricorn, where we move from the essential, primary physical needs for sustenance and survival [Taurus] to the ambitious, impressive achievements and standards required for social recognition, professional success, wealth and even fame.
It is in Virgo that we examine our situation and circumstances, talents, abilities and resources, as well as our character defects and personal shortcomings. Virgo is a process of self-improvement and self-betterment that reminds us to focus on progress rather than perfection and favors good health over massive wealth. Virtue is the touchstone here, humility and sacrifice are tools of the trade.
Virgo is also a finishing school of sorts, a place to take personal inventory and identify what needs bolstering and/or improvement before launching into the interactive realm of significant one-to-one relationships, partnership and marriage. We want to be the best we can be, attract the finest partners and live the most productive, healthy, rewarding life possible – and Virgo says we can do it. Establish a daily practice of cleanliness, hygiene and organization, find a physical exercise routine that works for you – walks, yoga, sit-ups, cycling, the gym – eat good, nutritious food, drink plenty of water and breathe lots of unpolluted, fresh air. Then take a good, long look at your spiritual condition and whether or not you feel happy, relaxed and at peace. Yes or no, take steps to make it better.
The trick to Virgo is not getting caught up in the “I’m not good enough, I’ll never be perfect, my life is a mess, I’m doomed to failure” internal dialogue, and then giving up on the practice. Why bother? Because you are worth it! Virgo is a mutable earth sign, and mutable signs [Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces] are inherently restless. They are often distracted in the midst of accomplishment, inclined to change horses mid-stream and lose focus due to lack of interest, excitement or simple boredom. Fortunately, Virgo loves virtue and progress, excels when it comes to helping others, wants to be of service and understands that everything takes work.
So, during this first week of our fresh Virgo new Moon lunation, seed the universe with well-crafted, precious images of your highest, most beautiful, healthy, productive, assistful self. Gather your courage and stamina, identify what you can do to improve your daily routine, and work at it one day and one step at a time. Good luck and Happy Harvest!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19) Virgo loves clean, organized spaces and daily routines that promote physical, spiritual and emotional health. There you have it. A fresh new Moon in this merit-seeking sign favors everything and everything you can do to cultivate virtue. Simplicity, exercise, good food and fresh air are allies. Do what you can to improve yourself and your world.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20) As the Sun and Moon come together in the celestial aspect of a Virgo new Moon, you may feel a rumble in your soul and flames in your heart. Summer’s end and approaching autumn evoke feelings of love and sweet remembrance. Childhood memories and romantic musings emerge in a dance of changing color and light. Embrace the spirit and enjoy the show.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) Transformational Chiron in ethereal Pisces opposes the Virgo new Moon this week, pulling you further into the numinous metaphysical realms of spirit. Three-dimensional, mundane worlds pale in the light of mystical realities and supernatural possibilities. Meanwhile, domestic and professional responsibilities demand attention. Balance is the golden key.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Virgo deals with the perception of patterns and the quest for refinement, integration and wholeness. Its home is found in the holistic healing practice of body, mind and spirit. Whole foods, natural medicines and daily exercise are keys to healing and wellness. Take a good look at your daily habits and improve them. Be kind and gentle, love honors health.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22) With personal planets Mercury, Venus and Mars all close to your Sun and ready to follow the leader, take charge of yourself and your life. Let go of all attempts to control others and focus on what you can control – you! Self-improvement is the name of the game now and it is one that pays handsome dividends. Smile and be the best you can be. The world awaits you.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22) The existential Virgo mission is one of divine will and service to humanity. Its sacred task is to identify and rectify imbalances between body, mind and spirit. As a supreme facilitator and natural healer, your default position is to help and assist others. But, the first, and most important task is to heal thyself. Cultivate a daily practice and stick to it.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct. 22) You may crave some quality time alone as the Virgo new Moon illuminates your innate natural desire for inner and outer peace. Balance is the key to your health and well-being, and when you are over-taxed, stressed, around people who demand too much or subjected to external chaos, you must re-balance. Take the time; rest, relax and regenerate.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) Social or professional demands may be exciting or taxing, depending on your situation. Whatever the case, you are certain to be busy and willing to achieve. Others see you as competent and capable, but may also be a bit jealous or envious of what you have going. Maintain focus and cultivate compassion. After all, not everyone is as talented as you are.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20) With new age healer Chiron in Pisces, opposing the Virgo new Moon, you may find yourself caught in the middle of a dynamic duel between family, friends and professionals. Authority is at issue, who’s in charge? Of course, you know that only you can be the boss of you, but what about everyone else? This is the time to qualify your roles and responsibilities. Go for it.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19) Taking charge is one of your fortes. Managing resources is another. And yet, during these last few years, you have wanted less responsibility and more relaxation. What’s up? This week, discover a new spiritual path and/or practice. Explore teachings, teachers and gurus. Your inner divinity is being awakened. It’s not all 3D. It’s a quantum reality.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) The inner workings of heart and soul encourage you to go deep and discover the beauty and power of spirit. Perhaps it is time to begin a daily practice of meditation and prayer, or simply work as a detective for the Great Mystery. Metaphysical realities beckon as magnetic forces push and pull you toward buried treasure. Stay awake, follow the road, find the gold.
Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20) The Virgo new Moon kicks off a week, month and year of personal challenge and choice for the Fish. With both Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, you are traveling a path of spiritual consciousness and physical awareness. You understand the holistic connection of body, mind and spirit and are doing a good job maintaining and integrating wellness. Just keep going.
