18 Jul TIO Posts Boost Adoptions
Second Chance Humane Society has been educating our service area on animal welfare issues for almost 20 years. Now we would like to hear from you about specific areas of interests you would like to see addressed in upcoming Telluride Inside… and Out posts. That said, we are excited you are reading and interested and appreciate the comments we have been receiving over the past year or more.
And we are so happy our weekly post is helping to get pets adopted! Remember two weeks ago when Bella the cat hacked into the Second Chance computer and wrote a post all about herself? Well, she was adopted within days of that article being posted – and after a almost an entire year of waiting at the shelter! And Bella is just one example among many.
Our TIO weekly post has also furthered our mission relative to promoting responsible pet parenting, from topics on the importance of spay/neutering to using positive reinforcement in training your pets, as well as the understated role that pets play in our lives.
Now let’s see who we can get adopted this week…
RED:
My name is Red. I came to Second Chance several weeks ago after being rescued from a very bad situation. I am just your average but stellar, happy-go-lucky super playful maybe Wolfhound maybe Borzoi mix dog. At only about two years young, I still very much enjoy playtime with other dogs, but I have also learned to be well mannered with people. I am hoping for some TIO magic, that my new family I am dreaming about reads this and comes to the shelter to bring me home forever…
GOLDIE:
Goldie is my name – not because I am gold or have long locks – just because I liked the sound. I am about four years old and just a bundle of love, longing, and lusciousness. You know that feeling of a nice cold drink tickling the back of your parched throat after a long hot day? Or curling up next to a fire and feeling the warmth tingle up your toes to your head after a long cold day? Well that is the feeling you will experience all the time when you adopt me and I greet you at the door after a long crazy day…
Editor’s note: It’s no secret. The Telluride region is dog heaven. Unless you are one of our furry friends who gets caught in the maw of neglect and abuse. Then heaven is on hold until Second Chance Humane Society comes to the rescue. Second Chance is the region’s nonprofit dedicated to saving animals’ lives and promoting responsible pet parenting and human-animal bond. In her weekly blog, executive director Kelly Goodin profiles two of the many animals now living at the no-kill shelter, Angel Ridge Shelter, a dog and a cat, hoping to find them loving permanent homes. The column is sponsored by Ted Hoff of Cottonwood Ranch & Kennel, who from time to time exercises his skills as a dog whisperer, partnering with Kelly and her staff to help train a particularly challenging animal.
By the by, there is no better place to park your pup than Cottonwood whenever you head out of town (for locals) or are heading to town and staying somewhere that does not allow pets. Consider joining Ted’s Very Important Dog (VID) Club for added benies. (Details on Ted’s website.)
Second Chance Humane Society Animal Resource Center and Thrift Shop are both located in Ridgway, but service San Miguel, Ouray & Montrose Counties.
