08 Jul The Ride Festival Kicks Off in Mountain Village
The Ride Festival is pleased to announce its kick off concert. The free event takes place on Sunset Plaza in Mountain Village, Friday, July 12, 4:30 –7:30 p.m. This concert features two bands: Escondido opens and the 18-year rock guitar prodigy Matthew Curry (and the Fury) is the closer.
Escondido is Nashville, Tennessee-based artists Jessica Maros and Tyler James. Recorded live in a single day, their 10-song debut album was released in February. Their sound? A washed out desert landscape steeped in American roots music.
“We wanted it to be like Clint Eastwood playing pop songs at one of the honky-tonks downtown,” James mused. “But we’ve been told it sounds like desert sex.”
Matthew Curry and The Fury deliver electrifying blues and blues-rock in an amped-up show. Matthew, already a veteran performer at 18, is astonishing audiences with his blazing guitar, original songs, and soulful voice. After a busy season of festivals, including The Ride, Matt and The Fury head to the Castle Theatre for their long-awaited CD release party on October 1. Audience favs like “Walk Out That Door” and “If I Don’t Got You” are on, but the gig also features brand new Matthew Curry originals.
Matthew and The Fury is, well, Matthew, plus Greg Neville on drums, Randy Hoffman on guitar, and Jeff Paxton on bass.
Matthew has played with blues greats Coco Montoya, Tommy Castro, and recently with Ronnie Baker Brooks, Bernard Allison, and Bryan Lee. Often referred to as a cross between Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton, Matthew Curry is a triple-charged musician in his own right and firing up the scene.
Come out to get the Ride weekend started with some great rock music in a beautiful outdoor setting!
