29 Jul Telluride Mushroom Festival 2013 Schedule
Keynote Gary Lincoff to speak on accessing the sacred in a profane world
Telluride Mushroom Festival (TMF) and the Telluride Institute are proud to announce the schedule of the 32nd annual Telluride Mushroom Festival, taking place Thursday, August 15- Sunday, August 18, 2013. This year, the festival is focused on the use of fungi as medicine for the environment and for people.
“Understanding and being open to healing ourselves is the first step towards healing our communities and our environment,” said Festival Director Scott Koch.
For 32 years, the Telluride Mushroom Festival has offered a forum for intellectual exploration of the role mushrooms play on Earth. Telluride Mushroom Festival has become America’s most respected celebration of all things mycological. TMF offers something for everyone, from guided forays in the San Juan mountains of Southern Colorado to presentations on cultivation, remediation, and the cultural impact of mushrooms, to delightful culinary experiences hosted by local eateries and nationally renowned chefs.
The keynote speaker of Mushroom Fest 2013 is Gary Lincoff, an author whose innovative ideas have made him a mycology icon. His Saturday event, “Whatever the Question, Mushrooms are the Answer; Accessing the Sacred in a Profane World,” will be a conversation you won’t want to miss. Tradd Cotter, author, cultivator, and mycoremediation instructor will give talks on mycoremediation on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. Robert Rogers, an expert on fungal medicine in indigenous cultures, will be talking from a multi-disciplinary approach that helps bridge the gap between psycho-spirituality and science. Christopher Hobbs, a notable herbalist, is returning to Telluride to speak on the role of mushrooms in the field of herbal medicine. Other interesting presentations include “How to Make Dye from Mushrooms,” “Classical Mycology/ Radical Mycology,” and “Cooking With Mushrooms.”
Each day will also feature guided mushroom forays, coffee talks, and special culinary events. This year will also feature a Myco-Brew Release Party on Thursday, August 16, and a Chef’s Cook Off Street Party on Friday, August 17, which will include live music and free tastings of dishes prepared by Telluride’s best chefs.
