27 May MERCURY, VENUS AND JUPITER
Anyone interested in observing the movement of our visible planets against the backdrop of the starry night sky should take note of the unusual dance of Mercury, Venus and Jupiter over the next few evenings above the western horizon in twilight.
I’m posting a few graphic depictions of this stellar event from the Sky & Telescope website, which also has a great video that is worth checking out. The video not only shows messenger Mercury, voluptuous Venus and giant Jupiter as a planetary trio, but also shows Venus and Jupiter dancing together on in to mid-June.
For the best viewing, go up atop a mesa, Mountain Village or high vantage point where you have a clear, unobstructed view of the western horizon. Enjoy the show!
